Last weekend (the 4th & 5th) the open source software conference FOSDEM took place in Brussels. I can’t thank the Université Libre de Bruxelles and all the sponsors enough to host this great event.
I haven’t been at the FOSDEM nor in Brussels before so this was full of new experiences. My girlfriend Victoria and I got there just in time for the opening ceremony. We then spent our morning in the Mozilla Dev Room listing to what motivates the community to contribute to free and open software or why you should run Firefox Nightly. #mozdem
A lot of projects had booths or talks to present their current efforts. One of my favourites was the IM protocol XMPP which handed out flyers on how to set up your own server.
Also good were the sightseeing tours which got offered for those that got dragged to this very technical conference. Victoria enjoyed those guided tours. Make sure to sign up early as the availability is limited.
People interested in some of the talks can watch them online since all talks got recorded.
